Let’s take it slow. Secondhand First, Secondhand September

Who else loves charity shopping and secondhand bargains?

Secondhand and charity shopping have been having a huge revival in recent years, as consumer awareness is growing towards the negative impacts of throwaway and fast fashion, along with the realisation of how brilliant it is to grab a secondhand gem at a bargain price.

There has been more media attention on secondhand shopping recently too with the Love Island and ebay collaboration, amongst other campaigns, to get people into charity shops, ebay and similar secondhand sites to hopefully change their shopping habits.

Imagine if everyone shopped secondhand and what an impact it could have on the environment and more? What if everyone rethought the way in which they shopped and bought more second hand items a lot more?

There is a campaign called Secondhand September, a campaign by Oxfam GB which has existed for sometime to do just that.

It is to encourage, engage and get consumers thinking about their impact on the planet and shopping habits whilst consuming in a different way!

Shopping secondhand is a great way to embrace sustainability by consuming what is already there, something preloved, pre-worn and recycled.

They do say 'one persons junk or item of clothing, in this case, is another’s treasure, so time to get rummaging and find those secondhand treasures.

For me, 90% of my wardrobe is secondhand with the odd new purchase every now and then, I do like fresh pants. Over the years I have found some lovely one off pieces in charity shops, ebay and shopping secondhand.

Have you ever tried charity shopping and got yourself a new wardrobe at bargain prices?

Why not give it a whirl and see what gorgeous outfits you can come up with for minimal prices and continue it beyond September too.
