Charity shop Christmas

Christmas can be such a magical season with the gorgeous window displays, cosy corners, indulgent foods, mulled wines, the gifts and so much more but it can also be an incredibly tricky time, personally and financially.

One brilliant way is to reframe the financial element of Christmas shopping and gifting is to take it back to what it’s really about - the connection, the catching up with friends and loved ones, conversations and mince pies, of course….. the gifts are a bonus.

We live in a world where Christmas has become much more about gift giving and huge consumption rather than the true essence of what the festive season is about but there is a way to do it differently and save cash in the process.

Charity shops are a great way to use what is already exists and a brilliant place to shop for gifts, there is something for everyone from table ware to toys and everything in between.

It is a great way of shopping on a budget, giving something back to the charity and items a second life, being a conscious shopper and impacting the planet all whilst putting a smile on the person you are gifting the item too.

Often you’ll find items which have only been worn or read once, what’s not to love?

There is another option of buying something from a charity shop and reworking or customising it, putting the effort back into gifting.

Secondhand items may have once carried a stigma of not being good quality or dirty but so many things which end up in charity shops still have the tags on and it is far from the old thoughts of what a charity shop or secondhand item will be.

So will you be gifting charity shop items this year and putting more emphasis on the communication and connection rather than the over consumption and huge spending on gifts?
