The Power of Positive

#Lean Into It

A title with positive in it, you’re thinking this is going to be a few words about how we ought to always be positive? well it’s not, it is more about not completely focusing on the negatives than always trying to be positive. Day to day it can be easy to focus on the negatives, especially if one thing happens which isn’t great such as encountering someone incredibly rude, experiencing awful customer service, someone doesn’t call you back and the list goes on. It can’t just be me who experiences these things, surely? It can be easy to spiral into ‘oh yeah’, this always happens to me, everything is so crap and focus on them BUT this isn’t going to do anything other than reinforce the rubbishness and create a nagative narrative. While all the while, there are probably loads of great things happening in between it but because of all the rubbish we continue to focus on it. Still with me? great, has this ever happened to you?

Its important to recognise life isn’t always perfect and isn’t always about the positives but its certainly way better to try as much as possible to focus on whats going right than on whats going wrong, the same as focus on the people who respond, give time rather than the ones who don’t, otherwise energy is going in the wrong direction and its far better to grab onto the things that are going well and push forward with those things.

Writing daily about what was good or what worked well gets us into the habit of thinking about the things which are going well. I know it can be easy to dismiss the brilliant things but habitual writing them down, I bet loads of great things will be remembered and suprise you too. It could be something as small as having a great interaction in the shop, a good phone call or the sun was shining.

Lean into the things which are going right and see what happens!

Tell me some of the brilliant things which worked for you today? #leanintoit
