Charity shop LOVE. What’s not to love?
My love of charity shops makes it tricky for me to walk past one and not pop in, it’s even trickier not to leave the charity shop with something in my bag. Fortunately, the price tags are usually more reasonable than a high street shop, leaving the wallet fuller, therefore the purchases are not as impactful, on the pocket or the planet.
There are many reasons to love charity shopping and this is one of them, to buy items on a budget and a brilliant alternative to full price retail shops.
Other reasons are
There are so many gems to be found
You can bring an item back to life by re-loving it.
The item has a history and now a future
You’ll find clothes, books, records and homewares
You can satisfy your inner rummager
There’s a chance to bag yourself a designer bargain
Its great knowing while you shop a charity will be supported
You’re using what is already there, less impactful all round
For me, I love my outfits to be a mix of vintage, basic and 'one off' items, rummaging through the rails and shelves of a charity shop is a brilliant way to find more unique items with a bit of history to be relived through rewearing and reusing them.
Shopping in a charity shop gives the possibility of finding something unique, buying a gift for someone, treating yourself to a new paperback or party dress without the price tag.
Buying second hand whilst being more thoughtful about my purchases and buying less is a great way to have a bit of a personal impact on the environment, physical space (my wardrobe) and with that, mental space too.
Have you ever tried charity shopping and got yourself a new wardrobe at bargain prices?
September is a great time to hit the charity shops with Secondhand September in full swing.
